Suggest Dosage Of Amoxicillin For A Dental Implant Surgery

I was wondering if it s best to take amoxicillin with or without food. Last night I took 500 mg as prescribed. I took it just before going to bed and it kept me awake all throughout the night. The pills stayed in my throat for over 1 hour and by 3 hours it was just below my chest and after 4 hours it finally dissolved. I had dental implant surgery yesterday and one tooth extraction. I look forward to your reply. Thank you.

Hi. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
I read your query. I am wondering if your Dental surgeon didn't explain dose and regimen of drugs as they are essential for faster healing and preventing infection.
You need to take Amoxicillin 500mg three times a day. Take them 10-15 minutes after meal. Also make sure you take an antacid like Rabicip20 or Rantac 150 empty stomach in morning and 1 hour before dinner. Amoxicillin can cause abdominal discomfort.
If symptoms persists, consult your surgeon for change of medicine. Hope this answer helps. Thank you!
