Left Leg Hurts, Cramps, On Calf. Possible Cure?

So I've had this problem for four years now. My left leg at least once every few months it will hurt for days. Feel cramps and annoying. I need to see a neurologist but haven't yet. I've had ultrasounds on my leg in the past and they've always been negative of clots. No family history ect. I'm on like day five of this annoying pain. No pain or swelling! Any advice I've tried everything, and should I be concerned with a blood clot? I'm 24 not on birth control. Also a friend of mine just had one and said the pain was really bad, hot red and swollen! My leg is just cramps nothing else. Also it does feel a little hard down the left side of my calf. This has been going on for a few days now. Some times during the day I wont notice it, but other times it will feel like my calf is so tight in my pants, and its annoying. im so afraid I will have a clot and just pass out and die from it!!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Veins thrombosis is not a disease which do appear constantly for 4 years. It does not work that way. Typical symptoms of veins thrombosis is swollen, painful, hard and sensitive to touch calf. It is swollen all the time.
Your pains can be caused by veins insufficiency and varicose veins (the leg gets swollen when standing for a long time), nerves compression (sciatica) if the pain radiates to the hip and to the back, bones pain (the pain appears mostly in the night and aspirin helps with it).
I suggest you to verify your veins ultrasound and see if the saphenous vein is sufficient and if not mentioned anything about it, you should have Doppler veins ultrasound to find it out.
Next step should be neurologist visit and EMG test performed to check if the nerves conduction is fine. Leg bones X-ray should be done to rule out any bones diseases.
Spine MRI should be also considered.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
