Itching In Ear Canals, Scratching Causing Bleeding. Treatment?

Hello, I have been experiencing itching in both my ear canals for a little over a week now. I clean my ears with cotton swabs (which I know you're not supposed to do) and I have used an ear candle to suck out the wax. I can not stop scratching the insides of my ears though and I am starting to make them bleed. What can I do to stop the itching?

Hello,
These symptoms are most likely due to fungal infection of the ear or 'Otomycosis'. You need to use anti-fungal drops and an antihistamine to lessen the itching. Please do not scratch your ears or use any thing inside them. You may use fine tipped sterile cotton buds to clean. Take care to see that water does not enter your ears while washing or bathing. For this sake, you should pack your ears with cotton buds while you bathe. With such precautions, this condition should not recur, and finally, see an ENT specialist for proper management. Take care.
