What Are The Recommended Methods To Taper Off Xanax And Benzodiazepine?

Hello Doctor! :^) I m a 39 y.o. Male, finding myself in a REAL JAM... (In Lubbock, Texas) I was needing Help... In regard to finding a Pain Medicine Specialist... (Or Psychiatrist?) Who can help treat me ASAP. My current pain medicine specialist of 17+ years was recently called before the Texas State Board of Medicine in Austin, TX (At this recent meeting on December 11th, his DEA License was Suspended for 30-45 days) I need help finding a Local Doctor who can help me with either tapering off (SAFELY) // some of these Narcotics & a Benzodiazepine (Xanax XR 3mg) / Safely & Correctly, etc. Actually... I just took my Last Xanax XR 3mg tablet (Take one tablet T.I.D. #90 filled on 11/9/2013) Can I taper off of this using Xanax 2mg Tablets?? If So, how long will it take?? Or how can I get this medication without throwing up Red Flags, etc. I can prove my history taking this is not Abusive, etc, etc. Thank You for your Time!! Chris

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello Chris, thanks for coming to Health Care Magic.
Best way to find the specialist in USA is to call your health insurance company and check with them the specialist in your area and in-network. They will guide you to get a list (5 names or more) with the doctor's profile details, location and contact numbers.
You can call them to see what location and doctor's availability works best for you. While making the appointment, you can indicate the status of ongoing medications stock and urgency & request for quick appointment. They generally get you in quickly based on the patient's requirements.
Wish you good health.
