I Am Suffering From Trigeminal Neuralgia, Cluster Headache And Rebound Headache

Hello there! I m female of 26 years old. From a year I m suffering for Trigeminal Neuralgia . In addition to that I sometimes have Cluster Headache too. And because of all the medicine that I m taking I have a kind of Rebound Headache too. For the Trigeminal Neuralgia I found not effective Gabapentin so I m taking 800 mg Tegretol Retard pro day, 10 mg of Amitriptyline nocte and When the pain is unbearable I can take 5mg nasal spray of Zolmitritan. All this is not everytime effective. Could strong dose of vitamin b12 help me for the Trigeminal Neuralgia? Any suggestion? Any kind of help is accepted. Thanks very much for the concern. Emanuela

hello welcome to healthcaremagic, vitamin B12 may help but if there is any abnormal blood vessel pressing on your trigeminal nerve none of the medicines will work as the vessel will be constantly pressing on the nerve. So consult a good neurologist ,get an MR-angio of the brain to rule out any abnormal blood vessel and if it is present then surgical management can be done otherwise you have to be treated with medicines or radio ablation of the nerve can be tried which your neurologist will be able to explain.

Thank you very very much for your answer Dr. Bhavani. I did many exams. It seems that the IAM's MRI tells that there is no neurovascular compression even though I'm not really sure about that because a sense of compression is what I feel on the temporal zone. Actually I didn't do an angio-MRI. Anyway, my neurologist said that I'm suffering of trigeminal neuralgia asssociated to cluster headache. I read in many blogs about the effectiveness of vitamin B12 and Omega 3 to treat TN. Could you tell me please if and how they may be usefull? I also read that supplements of vitamin b12 are more effective if injected? May be helpfull acupuncture or some physiotherapy intervention? My neurologist is not really supportive and I feel alone. If there is anybody that can give me suggestion, or somebody with my same condition I will be happy to hear from you.
Thank you very much again.
Emanuela
