Blood In Urine. Diagnosed As Bladder Infection. What Is It?
HI, my girl friend has had blood in her urine for some time now. it of and on and she has been seen multiple times, only for the symptoms to come back a few weeks later. They have tested her for all the common STDs. every time we go in they diagnose it as a bladder infection . But considering this has been reoccurring for about 10 months now, i doubt the likeliness of it being a bladder infection.

Due to anatomical structure, females are more prone to urinary tract infection.
You should get her investigated for :-
1. Urine (Routine/Microscopic and Culture/Senstivity).
2. Kidney Function Test.
3. Ultrasound KUB region.
4. Complete Blood Count(CBC).
5. Blood sugar(Fasting and PP).
Recurrent Urinary Tract Infection(UTI) is common, if the infection is not treated properly, by an antibiotic suitable according to the culture/senstivity reports.
She should also avoid using unhygeinic public toilets.
Drinking lots of pure water will help in limiting the urinary tract infection.
Treatment can be planned after knowing the results of the investigations.
If the problem persists, get her examined and investigated by a Urologist.

Blood in urine (hematuria) requires urgent diagnosis and prompt management because the causes vary from simple strenous exercise to very severe affections such as cancer.
Urinary tract infections are associated with hematuria, but after several treatment unsuccessfully, its time to review treatment and think of other possible causes.
Urinary tract infections occur repeatedly in people with an abnormal renal system anatomy because the abnormal anatomy favors infections. This can be ruled out through anatomical tests including renal ultrasound and contrast enhance x-rays.
Other possible causes include bladder or kidney stones, kidney diseases such as glomerulonephritis ( could be due to diabetes, immune disease, streptococcal infection etc) and congenital kidney diseases, drugs such as aspirin, penicillin etc, kidney trauma, parasitic infections (schistosomiasis) cancers as well as strenous exercises.
You should get your girlfriend to see a urologist and for detail work ups to be done including ultrasound, CT scan, urinalysis plus sediment analysis, cystoscopy etc.

As per the details u have given, she is propably having recurrent urinary tract infection . So I advise u to go through following tests,
1.ultrasound KUB
2. Urine culture and sensitivity
3. Complete urine analysis .
4.her blood sugar levels to rule out diabetes.
After getting these things , we can finalise the diagnosis and put the correct treatment.
