Gastritis, Bile Reflux, Slow Emptying Stomach, Upper Abdominal Pain, Heart Burn. PPI, Sucralfate Not Working. Bile Reflux?

hi . I have been told I have gastritis , bile reflux and a slow emptying stomach. I have tried various PPI and sulcrafate and all the usual medications for bile reflux, these do not seem to work. I have pain in upper stomach, belch a lot, difficulty swallowing, heartburn and burning in mouth with sour taste. over the last 6 months I have had inflamed ears and sinus headache. could this be linked to the bile reflux ? gastroenterologist have now referred
me to general surgery. what can they do?

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

The symptoms that you are describing ( heartburn, burning in the mouth, bloating, nausea) are in keeping with gastroesophageal reflux disease.
They can also occur in persons with a peptic ulcer.

Surgery is indicated in cases of severe reflux. Surgeons can perform procedures that limit the amount of acid that can reflux into the esophagus.

In terms of the symptoms of inflamed ears and sinus headache- it is not known to be associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease. The use of anti histamines, decongestants and nasal sprays may help.

I hope this helps
