Bayer makes an 80 mg enteric coated aspirin for this purpose. Being enteric coated, it is easier on your stomach. There are many 81 mg products out there and all are the same, some being enteric coated. More importantly, there have been some studies that have challenged the 80 mg dose citing that this dose does not provide complete platelet inhibition, and thus recommend 160 mg (take two) per day. Experts do not completely agree on this... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12959636 Interestingly, not only does this daily regimen reduce heart attack risk, but it may also reduce the risk for colon cancer. What is important to realize is that to prevent heart attacks it is more important to maintain a normal body weight, follow a low fat (and cholesterol) diet, no smokng, and regular exercise. All of these have a much MUCH greater influence on reducing heart attack risk than taking daily aspirin. http://www.freemd.com/Myocardial-Infarction/prevention.htm
