I finally had mine removed at age 30 after 10 years of sinus infections, every six to eight weeks. The sinus infections finally stopped after the tonsillectomy. After 20 doctors' opinions finally one suggested getting my tonsils out. It worked! Apparently the tonsils harbored bacteria and antibiotics couldn't eradicate all of them.

Dear Yang

tonsils are removed when tonsil act as nidus for infection and obstruction for breathing. The advantage is you wont get repeated throat pain and improved quality of life
