Does Hospital Protocols Require Identification Of Bedside Person To Authorize To Remove Life Support?

Good Morning Doctor.
I am curious to know when a person is on ALS ( Advance Life Support does hospital protocols in New York require identification of the person at the bedside to authorize the remove of such life support to confirm they are family or are a lawful Surrogate, permitted in which to do so. I believe the answer to both of these questions is yes.

As you rightly answered the question yourself,you require identification of the person at the bedside to authorize the remove of such life support to confirm they are family or are a lawful Surrogate, permitted in which to do so.
