How To Treat Foot Cramp That Is Causing Pain?

I've been diagnosed with a plantar plate tear at my 2nd MPJ. I've been getting major cramping in my foot. If I get a cramp in the arch, I'm able to flex the foot and relieve the cramp. Lately, I've been getting a cramp in the main arch of the foot (between ball of foot and heel) while simultaneously getting a cramp in the lateral arch (between ball of gr. toe and ball of 5th toe). If I point or flex my foot the cramp gets worse. I'm exasperated. Any assistance? The doctor who diagnosed the plantar plate tear said he couldn't help and suggested I get a second opinion.
