What Is The Treatment Of Red Spots On Chin ?

Hi, on the side of my chin and at the corner of my mouth I have small patches of tiny red spots which weep and then crystalise. The patches have increased but only slightly. I have been using a nappy rash cream which in the past has dried then out and they have disappeared after a week or so. however on this occasion they seem to reduce only to come back again a day later and to the individual spots then become inflamed. i have had this for over a month now

Hi,

Welcome to healthcare magic forum

I completely understand the discomfort you are suffering from and according to the symptoms you are describing it is most likely a boil which is due to infection of hair follicle or sebaceous(oil containing) glands with face, armpits, buttocks, neck being most common sites. Most common causes of it are:

1. Improper hygiene
2. Lack of proper nutrition
3. Diabetes

I suggest you to wash your face frequently in a day with lukewarm water especially when you are not at home ,avoid too much of sun exposure, avoid using soap with chemicals at the affected part, you can use any anti-bacterial soap for cleaning the infected part, don't worry, within a few days the spots will go on their own. If boil grows and doesn't rupture in 2 weeks from initiation you can get it examined by a skin specialist as to whether an antibiotic course or drainage is required.

Importantly, don't try to press or squeeze the infected site it will lead to worsening and spread of infection, that is probably the reason the spots are coming again.

Kindly rate my answer if you find it useful.Feel free to ask any further queries.Take care.

Regards,
Dr.Tushar Tamboli
