General & Family Physician, Dr. P. Mahesh's Response
Hi Chris,
Welcome to HCM.
MRI findings are suggestive of a mass lesion near your epiglottis (the opening of the wind pipe which leads to the lungs).
This needs to be further investigated by an E.N.T. Surgeon by doing laryngoscopy and taking a biopsy from the lesion and sending it for histopathological examination to exclude malignancy.
Management of the lesion depends on the findings on histopathological examination.
Wish you all the best.
hi chris barnes
they probably had an incidental finding in your vallecula, most probably T2 hyperintense is suggestive of a Vallecular Cyst.
if you do not have any symptoms related to swallowing or breathing, not to worry.
if symptomatic then an ENT or laryngologist consult is essential to rule out any Cancer.
kindly keep us posted
