hair loss during pregnancy, taking biotin. Safe?

Hello Doctor.. I m 12 weeks pregnant now.. and i started experiencing major hair fall since 5th week of my pregnancy.. i tried to research a lot on dosage of 5000 mcg Biotin and its effects on pregnancy.. but never got a satisfying answer.. can you please help me.. Is it safe to have 5000 mcg biotin during pregnancy ( I m also taking my prenatal vitamins regularly)

Thanks for writing to us.
You can take biotin supplementation in addition to the prenatal vitamins that you are taking. Biotin is rather indicated in pregnancy and is known to reduce the facial and limb defects in the baby. Taking a high protein diet will also be helpful.
