Yellow Scab In Right Nasal Cavity, Please Help

Hi, I am a 20 year old female with very few serious medical conditions. I tend to get a lot of colds but I ve been quite healthy this year. I am not currently down with a cold or sinus problem. Two days ago, very suddenly, a scab grew in my right nostril. When I removed it, a larger piece grew back within 10 minutes. It is also quite painful to remove. The piece I saw was bright yellow and smelled foully, slightly like rotten bananas. While I try to leave the scabs there, hoping they will eventually fall off by themselves, there is enough in my nose that its causing discomfort and nasal blockage. It s not accompanied by any noticeable swelling or redness on the outside of my nose. On the first day, I suffered a headache along with the growing of the scab though I m not sure the two relate. Please help!

Hi,

These are the dried up nasal secretions, this can be secondary to dry weather or dehydration. Drink plenty of warm water, you can also try taking steam inhalations and use saline nasal drops 3 drops 3 times/day to soften the crusts and easy removal.

Hi,

I have had similar scabs in my nostrill for over 3 months now, started off when my nose was constantly running then i developed these yellow scabs and they now smell like wet washing. Is there anything i can use to get rid of these scabs? So uncomfortable and irritating.
Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist Dr. Sumit Bhatti's  Response
Considering the yellow color and foul smell of the scab only in your right nostril, it will be prudent to get it examined to rule out a local infection due to staphylococcus aureus bacteria which has a golden yellow color pigment. Since the nostril is part of the so called 'Dangerous Area of the Face', it will be better to at least apply a local antibiotic, steroid and anti-fungal combination cream such as Betnovate GM. Further treatment should be decided by your local doctor.

Homeopath Dr. Gaurav Kackar's  Response
Hi,
welcome to health care magic forum,
scabs inside the nose is dry formed when the mucous discharge gets dry, sometimes it becomes dry very quickly and sticks inside the nasal cavity which on removal causes pain and sometimes bleeding too, but as you are saying that it is bad smelling and yellow in nature, it shows that it has become chronic in nature because of your recurrent cough and cold, it is good that you have been good all round this year, but i will advice you to take Homeopathic treatment for your condition to get cured completely.
