Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 53 . Recently I have a Xray . they say the arota is unfolded with prominent knuckle. I have a CT scan also they mention my ascending aorta appears dilated 3.7 cm in diameter) No wall calcification seen 1. My question Is it dangerious now? 2. How I can make it smaller in Diameter ? 3. How dangerious is it to do the operation to correct it? 4. Under what situation i have to do the operation? .
X-rays are shadows – not the substance... One treats the patient as a whole – not X-ray findings. Unfolding means the arch is wider – usually due to age, pressure and so on. 3.7 cm is not big... It is not dangerous... No need for operation.... You cannot make it smaller... Your treating doctor will be the best judge and tell you what is necessary and when...
Take care Wishing speedy recovery God bless Good luck
