Would The Hashimoto's Condition Cause Excess Sweating And Fatigue?

Hello,

I am a 32 year old female diagnosed with Hashimoto's 3 years ago. I am on 75mcg of Synthroid and currenly experiencing fatigue, ankle pain and (left only) and excessive sweating. The sweating is so bad that it drips down my back just from walking up a few stairs. I am doing less excercise due to my ankle pain, which is usually worse in the am. Does this indicate that i may need to up my dosage? I had bloodwork done in April and my docetor said I was fine. I do not want to have to pay another visiti because I am currently in between insurances and will be covered next month. What would happen if I started taking 1 1/3 pills each day for now, until I visit my md. Could that help with the sweating and joint pain? I cannot take the sweating anymore I have to change clothes twice daily. Thank you.

Brief answer:
No need to increase the dose

Detailed answer:

Hi,

Thyroid hormone replacement cannot be increased or decreased based on your symptoms alone as these symptoms are non specific. In fact increased sweating is a feature of hormone excess than deficiency. So no need to increase dose. Fatigue is a feature of hormone deficiency.

Increased sweating is mostly a feature of increased activity of sweat glands (hyperhidrosis) for which treatment in modern medicine is not that great. Aluminium hydroxide gel, infrared treatment etc are tried for this with boderline results. You may consult a dermatologist for this.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help

With warm regards,
