Would Going For A Ultrasound Be Right Due To Excess Bleeding During And After Intercourse?

I am a 41 year old female taking Yaz birth control pills. For the past three weeks I have had bleeding during and after intercourse with my husband--enough to change the sheets. I saw a gyn today who did a PAP test and said there was nothing she could find or see during the pelvic exam. She ordered blood work and an pelvic transabdominal and endovaginal ultrasound to be conducted 7-10 days after I get my next period. Why did she order the ultrasound? What could be wrong? I am concerned as I have neverhad postcoital bleeding until now. Thank you.
