Will Vicodin Help Fix Broken Fibula And Tibia?

In 1995, a horse came down on my lower right leg, up to and including the ankle. It broke the Fib and Tib in 6 places and some of the ankle. I had it repaired (reduction and internal fixation) and the plates were removed in 1998.

My right foot now has a 20 degree greater angle out from the left and it gives me nearly constant pain. My doc gives me 5 mg Vicodin for when it is really bad, but lately (especially when the weather shifts) this does little good.

(NB: I don't get "euphoria" from opiates unless they are VERY strong.) I am seeing my doctor again soon and want something that will last longer than 4 hours in relieving the pain. I do a lot of presentations on my feet so this is a problem.
