Will Urinary Tract Infection Lead To Cancer?

My mother is 94 years old. She is having EPO injections as well as one recent iron infusion to stimulate her red blood cells. After her second EPO injection, the day after she developed a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). Her urine was orange. Doctor prescribed Trimethoprim/Sulfa antibiotic two times a day for 10 days. She finished the antibiotic on a Saturday and the following Friday had her urine checked again. The color of the urine was cloudy. Technician remarked there was red and white blood cells in the urine. Doctor did not prescribe an antibiotic but sent the sample to be cultured. If she has a kidney infection, doctor said she would have a high fever and be very sick. She has none of those symptoms. Could this be cancer? She has no symptoms other than being very tired. Thank you.

Thanks for your question on HCM.
In old age urinary tract infection (UTI) is very common because of poor defence mechanisms and poor local hygiene.
So I think it is infection in urethra mostly. And no need to worry for cancer.
And culture report is needed to identify the organism and guiding the antibiotics.
Also get done ultrasound abdomen for kidney. If this is normal than no need to worry for cancer.
So maintain local hygiene, ask her to drink plenty of fluids and start antibiotic after culture report.
