Will The Heart Palpitations And Weight Loss Be Cured With Nuclear Medicine For Goiter?

I was recently diagnosed with goiter. 3 tiny nodules were found in my thyroid (ultrasound). Im still gonna undergo a nuclear medicine (FT4, TSH IRMA). Im bothered with my palpitations and especially the rapid weight loss. Will these symptoms stop when i'll start my meds? And is the meds for life or for a certain duration?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

With thyroid nodules and goiter, the most probable cause for your palpitations and weight loss is due to hyperthyroidism and with nuclear medicine, the main problem can be cured with the treatment and hence your symptoms will also disappear.

Treatment should be continued based on the problem. If problem is present then need to take drugs.

Hope this helps you.
Regards
