Will The Diagnosis Of Fibroid During Pregnancy Harm The Fetus?

Hello Doctor,

My wife is Pregnant and currently carrying 7week fetus in her utrus. We went for a regular scan this week and my wife was dignosed having Large anterior wall sub serous fibroid measuring 8.3 x 6.0 Cms.
My wife is upset because of fibriod existence. Will the fibroid cause any complication during later stages of pregnancy? Will there be any affect to the baby growth?
Should she need to continue her pregnancy or abort the fetus?

Hello,

I do have seen pregnancies doing well with that size of fibroid.Only effect fibroid can have on pregnancy is because of its size and mass effect. So it should not be cause of worry but concern.Keeping follow up with ultrasound can help monitoring .Even there are options of treating such fibroids without disturbing pregnancy.Please feel free to take benefit of premium category for detailed answer.
