Will Taking Lasilactone Help In Avoiding Tapping For Malignant Ascites In Abdomen?

My mother aged 77 has been facing malignant ascites in abdomen and has been advised not to take chemo or undergo surgery due to her condition. She is taking lacilactone for fluid passing and with that she is maintaining her comfort level. How long can she take this tablet & will it help her to avoid tapping?

Hello and welcome..
Well she can use lacilactone for ascites and it help a lot in the management of ascites and she can use it for long time but to keep an eye on the side effects if the drug like serum potassium because this drug can cause hyperkalemia(increased potassium) which causes cardiac arrhythmis.
.avoid ptaasium containing food like banana.
.dose should not exceed 200 MD per day.
.do not use it with drug like ACE inhibitors.

I should advise you that you should do monthly bloods test for serum electrolytes...
