Hello,
Presence of both IgM and IgG titres is suggestive of a recent infection, chronic infection, reactivation of a past infection. The IgG avidity test should now be performed. A high avidity test rules out an infection acquired during pregnancy. A low avidity test does not suggest a recent infection always as it can remain for prolonged period of time after exposure. Also, repetition of titres in 2-3 weeks can also be useful to come to a conclusion in doubtful cases. Hope this helps.
