Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms Facial Palsy or Bell's Palsy can occur in anyone but the incidence is more with diabetics as nerve damage is seen more in case of Diabetics known as Diabetic neuropathy and in case if it involves a single nerve like Facial nerve in case of Facial palsy, it is a case of MONO-NEUROPATHY..

Although no treatment is commonly needed and the recovery can take place in a few weeks to a few months but the exact time in which recovery will take place is unpredictable..

As your husband is a Diabetic, mostly steroids are not given in diabetics as it tend to raise blood glucose levels and can be further harmful..

What you can do at present is simply relax and wait and watch..
Nerve recovery will take place on its own..
You can do warm fomentations on the lips and other affected areas..
Nothing else is as such needed..
In case if you do not find any improvement in a month or so consult a Neurophysician and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
