Will Extra Pulmonary TB Reoccurs Once Completely Cured ?
One of my patient is about 32 years old male I have been diagnosed as Extra PTB ,sohe is on treatment for the same since 14 days, my doubt is will it completely cured for life time&Will extra pulmonary TB reoccurs once completely cured. because ,his marriage is fixed after 52 months ,His doubt is this should suffers to his future partner. reply me

yes dear extra pulmonary TB can get cured permanently.proper treatment has to be completed, that is the 6 months DOTS.if incomplete, treatment has to be taken all over again since resistance develops.

Extra or Intra pulmonary TB if treated with proper dosage of medicine & till complete duration that is around 9-12 months in extra PTB will cure .Chances of recurrence are almost nil till the person gets reinfected or does not follow the prescribed line & duration of treatment.Once treated perfectly then there is hardly any chance of recurrence at least for extra PTB.
