Will Draining BCG Vaccination Blister Affect Its Efficacy?

Hello Doctor, Am a first time mom, i squeezed my daughters BCG vaccination lump after it burst. The lump was filled with pus two weeks after vaccination. Should she be vaccinated again, will the vaccination scar appear regardless of the squeezing and nursing i did on the lump. I had no idea it was not to be squeezed.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.

Development of a blister, scar after BCG vaccination is normal. Bursting the blister will not affect the efficacy of vaccination in anyway. So do not worry. No need for re-vaccination. Usually blister whether ruptured or not will heal by itself. If it doesn't heals then kindly consult a doctor.

I hope I answered your question.

If you have any other queries, feel free to ask.
Regards,
Dr.Prathap Kumar
