Will Consumption Of Champix Effect Pregnancy Test Results?
Hi - I have been taking Champix to stop smoking (started them11/10/2011). My period two months ago was very light and not even enough to wear anything and then my last period was 34 day cycle which is quite long for me so now I have done four pregnancy tests and all say positive (bleeding a little but only when I wipe myself in the bathroom, its dark brown and not enough to wear anything) but I wondered if the Champix would effect the results. Hope you can help as I am concerned.
Champix is a medication that affect how nicotine is metabolized in the body. It does not affect hormone levels and it would not affect the results of a pregnancy test. Champix is not recommended to be taken during pregnancy, so I recommend you discontinue it while you are pregnant. I suggest you see a doctor to confirm the pregnancy and determine how long ago you conceived.
I hope I answered your question and that my advice was helpful.
Best wishes, Dr. Brown
