Will Changing The Dosage Of Medicine Cause Any Harm?

Hi, My wife suffers postpartum depression after having our first kid and our doctor prescribed Licab 300 to take twice daily. After 1 and half years she suddenly changed to medicine schedule by taking only 1 tab each day telling that she is absolutely fine even without the medicine. I just wanted to know if it is ok to change this medicine to take daily instead of having twice or will it cause any harm ? ash Thanks

I understand that you are concerned about your wife suddenly altering her psychiatric medication on her own. Now, it is important to know that it is not advisable to suddenly decrease the dose of her medication like that, without the advise of her doctor.

This can lead to potential problems such as a relapse of her previous symptoms. Moreover, post partum depression is a condition which has a high chance of relapse. So, I would advise you to take her for a review and discuss further treatment options with her doctor. Till that, it is advisable to be on the same dose that her doctor last prescribed.
