Will Boil Near Anus Develop Into Fistula?

hello. i had a boil near my anus and it drained few days back on its own as i was doing warm compression. The boil was very hard to begin with and still is. however it has reduced in size and the pain is quite less. I want to know what are the chances that it will develop into a fistula? This is the first time i have got a boil in that area. I am on 2 types of antibiotics.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

It is not a boil developing into fistula. Fistula is a reason of abscess near anus. Due to pathological connection between the anus and the skin, soft tissues get infected and abscess appears.
It is very important to incise such abscess. Otherwise it will recur. So please do not leave it as it is. Please consult a surgeon and have it incised and drained.
Colonoscopy and MRI is necessary in diagnostics.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
