Will Blood Sugar Show High If Needles Used Are Of A Diabetic Patient?

My husband has diabetes; recently he took my sugar level and didn't change the needle and my blood tested 440! Normally my level is around 120; is it possible because he used the same needle that mine tested so high? Also the strips he used were at least a year old.
