Will Biotin Cause Any Side Effects?

I m a minor (15) and well today i started taking 5mg (5000mcg) of biotin to make my hair grow & hair & nails stronger etc. however, when i took my first pill before dinner, i started feeling odd and my hands started shaking. alot. so much I had to lay down and didn t even get to eat. it calmed down after 30 minutes but, I still want to know why this happened. should I be concerned? Is it no big deal? Should i take a lower dosage? (I have NO medical problems, AT ALL.) I am very healthy diet, go to the gym regularly, I m perfectly normal. all i want is my hair to grow, please help.

Hello and thank you for using healthcare magic.

I understand your concern. Biotin is a form of vitamin B and it is recommended for hair growth and nail strengthening. There are no known side effects or drug interactions associated with it because it is a naturally occurring vitamin in the body, so it is highly unlikely that the symptoms you experienced were related to the Biotin pill you took.
There is a number of reasons for the shaking and weakness you experienced. Most probably, since you mentioned that you took the pill before dinner, you might have been hungry and had a drop in blood sugar levels.
However, if this happens again, you need to do a health check up to identify the cause and rule out more serious problems.

Wishing you all the best.
