Will Adenoidectomy Help In Treating Snoring In A Child?

Hello, my 6 year old son is scheduled to get adenoids and maybe tonsils out. I'm hoping this will be effective for him. We have seen a lot of fatigue, ruled out seizures due to spacey behavior, seen a child pyschologist because he has days where he is out of it and days of clarity where he is really bright, talkative and energetic, has had a sleep apnea ruled out, but still sleeps a lot, has a regular bedtime and gets a good 10-11 hours of sleep with 5 plus hour naps, snores badly though much improved now that he's on flonase, has gotten sick a lot, strep, then vomting virus, now a sinus infection. I'm just hoping this will help him have more energy and feel better on a daily basis. He's also pale, cries easily, and doing well in school.

This question is too involved to seek help online. However, you should realise that no treatment is 100% guaranteed to be effective. If the doctor has determined that his adenoids are blocking his breathing, then removing them is the right way to go. However, in your case, he is also on steroid inhalations, and I don't know why.

I also feel that he is oversleeping, if he really sleeps for 10-11 hours daily. You need to take him to a good ENT doctor for a re-evaluation, and if that does not help, you should contact a sleep specialist.
