Will Abdominoplasty Reduce Risk Of Diabetes In The Future?

My family has a strong history of diabetes. I am very active and work out alot but have a little poochy at my middle from having three kids. I know that adipose tissue around the middle is strongly linked to diabetes. If I get a tummy tuck, will that decrease my risk of diabetes down the road? Thanks

Dear Madam,
As you rightly pointed out strong family history of Diabetes is a major risk factor. Second major risk factor is the abdominal obesity. If you want to reduce the risk of Diabetes please walk and burn fat. It will be nice if you can join a gym but a minimum walking will work for sure. Try to lose 5-10% of your current body weight over the next 4-6 months. SO losing weight, exercising, reducing sugar intake will take you a long way in reducing the risk of developing diabetes. I would also advise you to undergo a GTT (Glucose Tolerance Test) to assess your current sugar levels and also to predict the possibility of developing diabetes in the near future. The problem with surgical procedures is that although they give you immediate results , without constant effort the adipose comes back soon. It does not reduce the Risk of developing diabetes...
Take out your running shoes, Lose weight, remain a Non -Diabetic...
Enjoy life...
