General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to HCM

Since antiTPO is positive then it is autoimmune thyroid disease and thyroid gland is producing inadequate thyroid hormone. So with this adequate treatment where thyroid hormone is supplied from outside since body is not producing it adequately, the TSH will come to normal but if you stop supplying it from outside the thyroid hormone level will fall and TSH will rise. So she might need to continue it for long. But have to keep monitoring the treatment effectiveness she will have to check for thyroid function periodically.

Hope this helped. Do let us know.
