Will I Lose Weight After A Catheter Is Inserted?

I am currently scheduled for surgery to receive a catheter which I will then have home diaylsis. My kidneys are at 6 percent. Why have I over the past year gained so much weight and it is mostly in my belly. Will it go away after I start diaysis? I know part of it is due to loss of enery. Can you help me?
