Why Would One Experience Migraines After Having A Lumbar Spinal Tap?

Hello my wife has had a migraine for five days we have taken her to the er twice in five days they did a lumbar spinal tap on her and EKG testing and other I.v. fluewids she is shaking hot then cold her temp is around 100 and they did a c.t. scan should they do a cancer check

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted the symptoms of your wife. In a person with recent onset headache, in addition to migraine, we should consider alternative diagnoses. These include meningitis (brain fever). This should be considered, as she also has fever. Lumbar puncture and CSF analysis would help in confirming or excluding meningitis.

If LP is normal and headache is persisting, then, MRI with venogram should be done to exclude a diagnosis of CVST (cerebral venous sinus thrombosis).
