Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my father 78 with history of hypertensin was give 2 pills daily to control this synptom. After he was placed in rehab, due to a fall, his BP was unreadable on auto cuff and had to be manually check, reads as low as 50/50 and sometimes a reading could not be detected. why would the nurseing staff continue to give BP meds twice a day.
Hello Sometimes auto cuff don't record Blood pressure due to some error . As you mentioned that your father's B P is 50/ 50 mm of Hg. Sometimes it is not recording i.e. he is in a shock state . In such cases intensive care is taken and all the treatment is given according to the condition of patient . In my personal opinion your father is not receiving any anti hypertension medicine .There may be some confusion , so please consult the treating doctor and tell your all problem and query to the doctor. Good luck for your father .
