Hi,My son is now 1 year 8 months old. He suffers with some problem or other almost every 20 days. He major repeated illness is stomach infection. He would have green stools during the stomach infection. I don't understand why he gets stomach infection every 20 days. He was given antibiotics every time he has stomach infection and he is getting weak with them.He was ok until he was 8 months old , but there were repeated problems after that. We are giving him bottled water after heating and we are taking every possible step to keep our home clean. But he is getting this repeated stomach infections.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The infections have to be managed in the similar manner as you are doing.
Antibiotics have to be given for each episode.
Infection should be avoided by taking hygienic food and clean drinking water.
However, the cause for the repeated episodes of infection has to be found out.
Repeated infections suggest that the protective mechanism against infection has weaned away.
You need to get Ig A levels done,
Ig A is one of the five immunoglobulins.
It protects the surface of the organs like respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, urinary bladder mucosa against infections.
Deficiency of Ig G can lead to repeated infections of these tract(s) mucosa.
Consult your pediatrician for relevant investigations.

Thanks and take care
