Why The Tonsil Is Swollen And Change In Color After A Strep Throat?

Hi there,
I was at the dr yesterday and was diagnosed with strep throat. My question is, is it typical that after a day and a half of antibiotics that the tonsils will still be swollen possibly more swollen, and change in color? They were red and coated in pus. Today they still have the white spots, but also a bruised purple color.

Hi,
It seems that you might be having acute follicular tonsillitis givinig this picture.
Infection takes some time to subside with antibiotic medicine.
Continue with this medicine, within 2 days you will feel relief from symptoms.
Do antiseptic gargels frequently which will remove pus from tonsils.
Avoid fried, cold drinks and junk food.
Ok and take care.
