Why The Symbicort Prescribed To A Bronchitis Recovering Patient?

My friend has been given a prescription for symbicort and her doctor has not given her a reason why yet. The heart stress test results are not in. She is just getting over bronchitis. Her chest xray and other test results are not available to him yet. Why did he give this to her?

Symbicort is having salmeterol and fluticasone.
Salmeterol is long acting beta 2 agonist (LABA).
It is bronchodilators.
Fluticasone is inhaled corticosteroid.
Both are good bronchodilators and having anti inflammatory action.
Bronchitis is inflammation of bronchi.
It causes bronchoconstriction. This causes cough, breathlessness and wheezing.
So treatment of bronchitis needs anti inflammatory drugs and bronchodilators.
Symbicort is having both these properties , so will be beneficial in bronchitis.
This is the reason why your friend has been prescribed symbicort.
