Why My Body Weight Is Increasing After Taking The Tablets?

Hi..my name is Siddhi..I live in mumbai..since last 3 months
I've been taking carbimazole 20 mg 3 tablets in a day..bt since last
One month I realised that my weight has been increasing rapidly..
I just want to know till how many months it will increase?
Is there any other medicine which I can take instead of this?

Thank you for using HCM!
You didn't mention the etiology of hyperthyroidism but having into consideration your age it might be Graves' disease.
In general the medicamentous treatment for hyperthyroidism lasts 1 year to 18 months but during treatment it is recommended to check the level of Ft4 and Ft3 to see if the dose is the correct one.
You can'r reduce the dose having into consideration the clinical symptoms. May be you need to decrease it but the hormonal level will confirm it.
If there are recurrences of the disease after having stopped the medicamentous treatment, than you may discuss with your treating doctor about definite treatment, surgical or radioactive iodine.
