Why Makes And Elderly Female To Sleep All Day And Night?

My 89 year old mother-in-law went to the grocery store yesterday and, upon returning, felt so weak and tired that she had to go to bed. She slept for the rest of the day and night. Today, she still feels so weak that she can barely move. Should she see a doctor right away or wait a bit?

She is 89 years old and after visit to grocery shop ,she is feeling tiredness and sleeping . May be due to these possibilities , these include.
1 Hypoglycemia , lowering of sugar level is the main cause of such symptoms , particularly in old age patient. Diagnosis can be confirmed by examination of blood sugar level.
2 Hypotension or hyper tension may be the another reason of such symptoms . Diagnosis can be confirmed by examination of blood pressure ( most probable reason of such prolong sleep may be chance of hypotension).
3 Anemia , is another most important possibility of such symptoms . Diagnosis can be confirmed by blood examination hemoglobin level.
However there are so many reasons of such symptoms but in my opinion consult a primary care physician and get his opinion as this is important .
