Why Is The Lump Formed Under The Line Of Surgery Which Is Sore, Red And Blotchy?
Hi. I fell on a ladder 6 months ago and injured both legs. Both were open to the bone. My right knee required 14 staples and my left shin just under my knee had 29 staples. The wound basically went straight across from left to right. I have had some nerve damage and slight tingling but other than that I have healed fine with no complications. I have a hard lump under the wound on the left leg but thought nothing of it since I lost quite a bit of adipose tissue. Yesterday out of nowhere it began to feel tender to the touch and today it is red and blotchy down my whole shin, especially where the lump is. Several hours later it began to feel warm and more tender than yesterday. I have no other symptoms to lead me to believe that it is infected. The only change made recently was a change from using vitamin e oil to Maderma. What could possibly cause this reaction?
Hi It may be a local allergic reaction or it may be infection or something wrong with fracture. First of all you get and x ray done along with cbc count and random blood sugar. If above reports are normal then no need to worry just apply ice and take anti-histaminic drug like avil. If wbc count is high then it should be treated with antibiotic. Get well soon. Thank you.
