Why Is My Knee Swollen And Bruised?

Hi I have a badly bruised knee and I haven't even bumped it. I just put my knee on the carpet floor and it hurt so looked at it and my whole knee was swollen and bruised. It's only sore if I go on my knee otherwise there is no pain. What could cause this problem?

There at can be two conditions which can cause this. First is meniscus injury, other is knee bursitis . I would recommend you to show to a orthopedics surgeon. He will be able to diagnose it and can offer treatment. He can ask for x ray knee. At present apply ice, take brufen tablet, rest and compression bandage.
