My wife had her blood drawn in the lab today, early this morning, they have to take it from her wrist with a butterfly needle because her veins are so small in her arms. Anyways, after she had been home for about thirty minutes or so her hand and wrist were swollen about 6 inches in length and 2 inches wide, 3 inches above and below the site where the blood was drawn from. It is really tender, painful, red around the edges of the swollen portion and seems whitish in the center. I should also mention that after she had blood drawn she had an appointment for allergy testing, I don't know if that is related, but I do know this has never happened to her after having her blood drawn before and they draw her blood the same way all the time, from her hand/wrist. What do you think Doc?
