Why do I still have knee pain after pulling a ligament 2 yrs ago and taking tylenol occassionally ?

I pulled a ligament in my knee 2 years ago and I m still having problems with it. It cracks and I get a severe pain in it. I wear a knee brace every once in a while and take tylenol quite a bit, but nothing seems to work. How do I make it stop hurting?
