Why Do I Have Whistling And Pain In The Ear ?

This morning when i woke up, my ear was (is still) whistling and is really painful. The whistling goes away and comes back all the time. I do have a cold, and the place where i live is quite snowy and cold. Maybe the fact that i didn t wear a warm hat made them painful? I am a thirteen year old female. What to do with my ear? It s very painful.

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

You are having eustachian tube block as a result of the cold and the nasal congestion. You require steam inhalation, drink plenty of warm water and use oxymetazoline/xylometazoline nasal drops 3 drops 3 times/day (for a maximum of 5 days only). If this does not subside with in few days please do consult your ENT specialist.
