Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Why Do I Have Increased Heart Rate After Open Heart Surgery?
I had open heart surgery on the 21st of January. About a week ago I underwent a cardioversion that only worked until I got home that day. My heart rate jumped to 113 BPM and has remained there since even though my Cardiologist has rased my Sotolol level from 80mg per day to 280mg. No relief. Is all okay?
All cannot be okay with a sustained heart rate of 113bpm. Something for sure is not going very right. I will suggest that you get evaluated with an EKG and possibly a 24hour monitor to see whether you are developing a form of heart arrythmia that needs to be addressed differently. Talk to your cardiologist about this.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Dr. Ditah, MD.
