Hi Jessica,Welcome and Thanks for placing your trust in Healthcaremagic.
The symptoms which you mentioned are typical of a condition known as Deep vein thrombosis in which due to some underlying condition the veins of one are more limbs are blocked by a blood clot.It causes severe pain associated with swelling and discoloration.
It is common in lower limbs where stagnation of blood due to prolonged immobility is important cause but in upper limb is more commonly due to a obstruction due to a tumour or a blood disorder.Immediate diagnosis is important as this is sometimes life threatening due to dislodgement of the clot which reaches to blood vessels of lungs.A color doppler is perfomed to diagnose it.
I can understand the anxiety this answer may cause to you but it certainly requires immediate medical attention in a good center.
Hope this answers the question.
